Initial Setup

Configure your business details, services, and preferences. The setup wizard guides you through each step, but you can always change settings later.

The Setup Wizard

When you first sign in to ReceiptLog, you'll be greeted by the Setup Wizard. This is a step-by-step guide that helps you configure everything you need to start creating receipts.

The wizard walks you through these steps:

  1. Welcome - A quick introduction
  2. Profile Details - Your name, business name, and contact info
  3. Logo - Upload your business logo (optional)
  4. Brand Colours - Choose colours for your receipts (optional)
  5. Services - Add at least one service with its price
  6. VAT Settings - Configure VAT if you're registered (optional)
  7. Receipt Settings - Choose numbering format and currency
  8. Install App - Add to your home screen (optional)
  9. Review - Summary of your setup
You can skip steps

Don't have all your details ready? No problem. You can skip any step and come back to it later from Settings.

A progress bar at the top shows how far through the setup you are. Once you've completed (or skipped) all the steps, you'll see a summary and can start creating receipts.

Changing things later

Everything you set up during the wizard can be changed later from Settings. Don't worry about getting it perfect first time.

Your Business Details

This information appears on your receipts and helps your clients identify your business.

Required Information

  • First Name - Your first name
  • Surname - Your surname/last name
  • Email - Your business email address

Optional Information

  • Business Name - e.g., "Healing Hands Therapy" or "Murphy Reflexology". If left blank, your name will be used.
  • Phone - Your business phone number
  • Website - Your website URL
  • Address - Your business address
Tip

If you signed in with Google, your name and email will be pre-filled from your Google account. You can change them if needed.

Adding your logo gives your receipts a professional, branded look. Your logo will appear at the top of every receipt.

  1. Tap the upload area or button

On the Logo step, tap the preview area or the "Choose Logo" button.

  2. Select your logo file

Choose an image from your device. We accept PNG, JPG, and WebP formats.

  3. Preview and confirm

Your logo will appear in the preview. If it looks good, continue to the next step.

Logo requirements

For best results, use a square or horizontal logo. The maximum file size is 500KB - if your image is larger, we'll automatically compress it for you.

To remove or change your logo later, go to Settings > Logo.

Adding Services

Services are the treatments or products you offer to clients. Adding them here means you can quickly select them when creating a receipt, rather than typing them out each time.

  1. Enter a service name

Type the name of your service, e.g., "Reflexology Session" or "Deep Tissue Massage".

  2. Enter the price

Type the default price for this service. You can always adjust it when creating a receipt.

  3. Tap "Add"

The service will be added to your list. Repeat for all your services.

You need at least one service to complete setup, but you can add more at any time from the Services screen.

Multiple units

If you charge per unit (e.g., per hour, per session), you can enable "Allow multiple units" when editing a service. This lets you specify a quantity when creating receipts.

VAT Settings

Most therapists and small service providers in Ireland are not VAT registered. If that's you, simply leave this toggle off and your receipts won't show any VAT information.

If you ARE VAT registered:

  1. Turn on "VAT Registered"

Toggle the switch to enable VAT features.

  2. Enter your VAT number

Your VAT registration number will appear on your receipts.

  3. Set VAT rates per service

You can set different VAT rates for different services. Edit each service to specify its VAT rate and whether the price includes VAT.

VAT exemptions

Many therapy and wellness services are VAT exempt in Ireland. If you're unsure whether you need to register for VAT, consult your accountant or Revenue.

Receipt Settings

Customise how your receipts look and how they're numbered.

Currency

Select your preferred currency. The default is Euro (EUR), but you can choose from British Pound (GBP), US Dollar (USD), and others. You can also create a custom currency if yours isn't listed.

Receipt Numbering

Choose how your receipt numbers are formatted:

  • Daily Prefix - e.g., 260302-001 (recommended - includes date)
  • Year Prefix - e.g., 2026-001, 2026-002
  • Year-Month Prefix - e.g., 2026-03-001
  • Year Suffix - e.g., 001-2026, 002-2026
  • Plain (Yearly Reset) - e.g., 001, 002 (resets each January)
  • Plain (Monthly Reset) - e.g., 001, 002 (resets each month)
  • Plain (Continuous) - e.g., 001, 002 (never resets)

Receipt Footer

Add text that appears at the bottom of every receipt. This is a good place for:

  • Thank you messages
  • Payment terms
  • Professional registration numbers
  • Cancellation policies

Brand Colours

Choose colours that match your brand. These appear on your receipt headers and totals. You can select from preset palettes or choose custom colours.

Tip

If you're not sure about any settings, just go with the defaults. You can change everything later from the Settings screen.
